Buttercream Frosting
Ingredients:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons whipping cream
Directions:
- mix together sugar and butter (i like to stick the butter in the microwave for about 15 seconds to partially melt for easier whipping)
- mix on low speed until well blended and then ingreasespeed to medium for about 3 minutes
- add the vanilla and whipping cream and beat on medium speed for another minute
White Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3/4 tablespoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 egg whites
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- preheat oven to 350 degrees
- sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar
- cut in shortening until fine crumbs are formed
- add eggs, milk, and vanilla
- beat at low speed for 1 minute than high for 2 minutes
- pour batter into greased and floured pan
- bake in oven for 25-30 minutes
- remove cake from pan after cooling for 10 minutes
